Can you help us determine what kind of cards to buy. I know they must be numbered and must be sequential to work with the bulk tool.
We want the our drivers to use this to log in and are interested in using them for sellable gift cards as well.
Thanks
Rick
Gift Cards / Employee Login
Re: Gift Cards / Employee Login
You will need magnetic cards that have 2 or 3 tracks that start with the % symbol as the first character of the first track. This is very much the same standard that credit cards use. Other than that each card with the combination of all of it's tracks must be completely unique from the other cards that you will be using.
A sample of the track data might be something like:
%678901 <-- Track 1
;678901=150510110000 <-- Track 2
Where this particular card number is 678901.
For employee cards, it really doesn't matter what data is in the tracks, as long as each employee card is different from the others. You can even use the employee's drivers license if your state has magnetic stripes on the back of the license. Again it doesn't matter what type of card or track data that it is. The POS encrypts the track data, then stores the unique encrypted string in the employee account. Whenever that card is used for a log in or clock in/out, the track data is again encrypted, and then compared to what is stored in the available employee accounts. When a match is found, then that card is linked to that employee account.
