Third party orders

Post by gtrent »

How would you handle orders from Third party facilitators such as Uber. The company handles collecting and remitting taxes for the merchant. How can we track these orders (makeline/driver) without affecting the reports used to determine taxes the merchant is responsible for paying? Right now they are being tracked on paper tickets, not ideal

To automatically receive orders from an online provider like Uber, they would need to send to the remote order submission API, or go through a 3rd party that handles that.

---------------------------

To track those orders, you will first need to setup one of the custom currency types as "uber", "online", or something meaningful for these types of orders.

Whenever an order is received.
  1. Enter the customer's phone number and begin the order.
  2. Add all of the items to the order.
  3. Click the Tax Exempt button and enter UBER into the tax exempt code field.*
  4. Submit the order, and pay for it using the custom currency type setup for these orders.
*For services that do not submit sales taxes on the store's behalf, omit this step.

Thank you for the quick reply. This makes it a little easier to understand.

Are you referring to the User-defined extra payment types? Or is there another setting i need to change?

Yes, the custom currency types found in the Global System Config editor found on the bottom left side of the Payment Types tab page. Setup one of these for your online payments, and then verify that it is NOT disabled on the bottom right side of that same page.
