I think I remember being able to apply a discount to the purchase of a "gift card" last year with V7... I offer a 25% Discount on Black Friday to those purchasing a gift certificate... today I couldn't get a standard discount to apply on a Gift Card purchase... I had to manually ad a "Non Inventory Item" discount today, did something change?

I'd have to go back to look at some transactions from last year but I thought I was able to apply a discount to the purchase like any other purchase.

Please let me know how to do it with v8.

Purchasing of a Gift Card is "non-discountable" and that went into effect when the not discountable option was added to master items at v7.30.00 in Oct 2019.

Redeeming of a Gift Card is discountable. You can apply the discount with a non-inventory item as you did, or offer a free gift card worth $xx with the purchase of a regular gift card. You would have to have the free gift cards setup ahead of time as expiring cards.
