Online Ordering Error 542

having a different, issue. I am getting the error 542 when trying to place an order. I have tried the solutions that I saw everywhere including restarting everything in the order suggested, setting the DB server address statically, checking the CGI service is running and restarting it. I even put the online server on the same subnet just to make sure that my networking config was not the issue, but still cannot get the licensing to work. this is all I get from the server log

Error 542 is the license service could not obtain a license for the online side.

If your online ordering is on it's own dedicated computer:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  1. Shutdown POS stations to the windows desktops.
  2. Reboot the Online Ordering PC.
  3. Run a test online order.
  4. Launch the POS on the stations once again.


If your online ordering is on the SAME computer as the database server:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Click the Windows "Start" button and in the search field type in "Services". Find and launch the windows Services Manager. Scroll down in the list and locate "Summit CGI Licensing Svc", the list is in alphabetical order. Double-click on the Summit CGI Licensing Svc entry and change the startup type from "Automatic" to "Automatic (Delayed Start)", and save the settings. Close the windows Services manager. Follow the numbered steps above for server on a dedicated computer.

It is on a separate computer. I followed those steps already. any other thoughts? I should add that it is able to communicate with the DB because changes that we are making to the system (items, toppings, etc) are showing in the OO

Shut down all other stations except for the database server. Go into the database server admin tool, stop the server, then wait 5 or 10 seconds and restart it. After it has been restarted, reboot the web server PC. It should be able to get a license as long as none of the other machines are running. The Online Ordering requires 1 node license above what you have in order entry stations. This is why I say to stop them. You can restart those once the OO is working.

One other thing. Go into the folder C:\POSPizza6\Apache2x\cgi-bin and open the file "posdbsrv.conf" in notepad. Make a note of the dbserver, dbport, and dbname parameters.

Next go into C:\POSPizza6\Apache2x\POSPizza and open the file "cgiLicSvc.conf" and look at those same parameters. They must exactly match what was in the other file.

If all of this is followed, you should have no problem submitting an order with the Online Ordering.

Scott,

I followed all instructions, still not seeing the connection being made. both files are exactly the same. as I said I know that they can communicate because I can log into the site and and I can see all the items. I just cannot complete the order. Is there a way to manually assign a license to it? any other logs that I can check?

Here is what I have found looking at the logs. the first is the server log file, The second is the CGI log file. The issue that I see is that even though I have NO OTHER CONNECTIONS to the server, all order stations are turned off and when I look at the connections on the server it shows none. The online ordering is still saying that there are no licenses available.

Please call support during business hours tomorrow morning, so that we can walk through all of the steps. This should not be this difficult, so something is being missed. Unless you already have 3 order stations in use, it should not have any issue obtaining a license.

Scott I am having the same issue. I think our licence dongle needs updated.

Only people who bought v7 outright need to have their dongle updated. You have v6 so there is no dongle issues. Stop your database server, wait 10 seconds, restart it, then reboot your web ordering PC.
