Changing TAX amount globally help!

Post by johnstoneelectrical »

Hi there,

We would like to add TAX to our receipts now, in New Zealand they call it GST (Goods Service Tax 15%)

Is there any way to add this to everything at once or do we have to add it to each item and also each topping separately.

Also all prices under items are exTAX can this be made to include TAX? So we dont have to work backwards eg: We have a pizza for $18 and now need to make that price include the 15% GST can this be done or do we manually have to work it out and set it to $15.65 and then add the 15% to each item.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks Leigh

Go into the Management Utility and select "Configure" -> "Global System Config" and then go to the "Sales Taxes" tab page. If your tax is always applied globally, use the first slot and set the percentage to 15 and name it how you would like. If it is a tax that only applies after a certain subtotal is reached, use slot 3 or 4 for this type. If your tax is also applied to delivery fees set the tax percentage amount for the delivery fee tax > 0.

Next click on "Inventory" then go to "Master Items". Once you choose an item go to the "Pricing & Taxes" tab page and make sure that (if the item is taxable) that the proper sales tax is checked on that item on the bottom right part of the page under "Sales Taxes". Repeat this for each item in your inventory.

This will cause any item to show its normal price, but tax to also be included on the order for the items purchased. Tax will show at the bottom of your customer receipt.

If you are using the CS or SA version, you could use the custom receipt type and add the tax # wherever you want on the receipt, if you are using the LT version, then you could put it in the slogan message like "Tax #: 000000" or something similar.

You could also use the promo messages for that purpose as well in all versions.
