Client cannot execute Server applications...

Post by GeoDaddy »

Unable to get the Client to execute any of the applications on the Server. They display the initial POS Pizza logo, but do not get to the "password" dialog box.

I'm getting the error:

UNABLE TO CONTINUE: File Serial Numbers are different! Please restore the database from most recent backup or contact Tech Support.

There is no "backup" I have yet to actually execute any functions (other than setting some System Coinfiguration settings on the Server.

Running Windows XP Pro (not yet authenticated, but a new license, one for each machine.)

Logged on as Administration User on both machines.

On the Server:

Created a simply twno node network, connected by a Linksys Switch. As per XP Pro documentation...

DIS-Abled "Use Simple File Sharing"

Network Places shows:

POS PIzza on Server (Vancouver) - \\VANCOUVE\POS Pizza - This Computer

Share Name:

Right-Click under POS Pizza folder (with sharing "hand") shows Share thia Folder User Limit Maximum Allowed.

Permissions: Checked Full Control, Change, Read

On the Client:

Shows that "mapped" Network Drive:

POS PIzza on Server (Vancouver) - \\VANCOUVE\POS Pizza - SERVER(Vancouver)

Executed from mapped Z: Drive....

appears to be working.
