Okay, so... let's say I have a 2 TB drive (I do), and it's never had more than like... 800 GB on it, and is generally well defragmented. I am not positive how sequentially hard drives write files by default, but if I let it scrub until I have like... 1 TB of free space, is it likely I've scrubbed the vast majority of anything that might've been in the free space on that drive?
Obviously, if there's fragments of free space between files, the 1 GB writes of the Hard Disk Scrubber would miss those spots if cancelled early, but if I'm not looking for a perfect scrub, would it be fairly effective?
Sequential Location
Re: Sequential Location
I would guess that it would be in most cases. One thing that you can try is a file recovery program to see if previously deleted files are still recoverable. Another thing that you can do in much less time is use the file shredding side of the scrubber to delete files with directly. Then all of the file data and remaining sector data in the sectors used by the file is completely overwritten.ocdtrekkie wrote:would it be fairly effective?
