Reciept Printer vs Box Label printer for Makeline

Post by CataldosRD »

Hello,

Is a box label printer required for the makeline screen? We have an Epson TM-T20II attached to the makeline. Once the line cook marks an item complete, a tiny receipt is printed, but not cut. This results in line cooks consistently using the feed button to extract the receipt and then manually cutting the receipt, and eventually a break down of the printer due to ingredients getting into the printer.

Is this because we need box-label printer? I've tried everything to manipulate that receipts format, but I imagine this receipts configuration is limited for a specific purpose.

We are trying to lean out our kitchen and one of the things we want to do is eliminate wasted movement between the cooks, and our cut table (where box labels/receipts are needed), so we will be having some cat 6 ran to a different printer, we just need to know if we need a box label printer, or can we manipulate the format

Thanks,
Dan

Yes, but you can embed the job/end cut codes into your box label formats.

eg.

Code: Select all

Item %cc of %ic%bn%tp %ph %ln, %fn  (#%on)%bn%id%bn%si%bn%bn%bn{10}{29}VB{8}
This will force the auto-cutter to operate with each label (slip) printed. The %bn codes at the end will advance the printer 1 line for each %bn present. You can add more of these to make more paper feed out.

Also, every time that you modify the label formats, be sure to exit the kitchen modules (make-line, or MLPOM) completely and then start them up again. The reason for this is that they only read in the label format when they first initialize, so changes made since they were started will not take effect until they are restarted.
