Hello,
I cannot find a way to print the receipt onto a PDF for testing purpose.
I went to Local machine configuration-->General settings -->Print to alternate printer-->Set it to PrimoPDF
I am getting nothing saved on checkout.

It should work, unless the PDF driver isn't understanding the special print codes that would normally be sent to a receipt printer.
You should probably choose one of the page printing definitions like [graphical 8.5x11] and it will likely work better for a PDF driver.
To test the graphical strip type printing you can press the "test script" button above the script edit window in the printer definitions. Otherwise, these should be printed to an actual receipt printer.
