External Credit Card Processing

Post by synpse »

Hello,

We've been using X-Charge for integrated credit card processing. But, the fees are just too high, and the swipe-to-bank time takes too long. We're looking at the Square credit card processing. Or some other kind of external processing.

Does anyone have any experience with Square? Or going from integrated processing to using an external credit card solution?

The deadline is the end of the year. That way we can get a clean switch-over on Jan 1st.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

The new API (early beta v7) is nearly completed. It is undergoing some in-house testing at the moment, but should be ready in a few weeks.

Using this API developers will be able to write integrated solutions of their own usable with any card processor or payment gateway. You can even use multiple processors where needed. In addition 2 new custom payment types have also been added. These can be used for new payment types, or "extra" payment types and are completely user definable. Both of these types can also be associated with integrated processing.

Final testing and documentation has to be completed, and it will be ready.

Other thoughts, have you contacted any of the other payment processors to try to get a better rate? You can also process outside of the POS system quite easily too. You would need either a soft terminal, or a counter top terminal to go along with the POS in this case.

Feel free to give me a call if you need further info on this topic.

Thanks for the reply, Scott. Yup, We've requested rate reviews multiple times, as our business volume grew. It's just the lead time that is the killer.. and no good way to reconcile the deposits vs the swipe records, as the different types of cards take anywhere from 2-5 days to hit the bank. It's a bad whack-a-mole situation.
